Trending Coronavirus News Update: Lagos Catholic Church Priests Change mode Of Worship. The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos diocese, Alfred Martins, has issued a new worship directives, this is arrived at in-order to stop the possible spread of the deadly virus. The new directives became imperative, following the earlier reports of cases of some confirmed carrier of the virus in Lagos state and Ogun state.
Recall that, cases of the virus were reported recently in Ogun state and Lagos state Nigeria respectively, whereby victims tests positive to the deadly coronavirus.
According to the Archbishop Alfred Martins, there would no longer be handshaking during the church service. “Handshaking as a Sign of Peace during Mass would no longer be tolerated till further notice”, said the priest.
he continued, saying;
“During this season of Lent, we want to try to reduce the number of gatherings in Church to the barest minimum, there would no longer be Stations of the Cross service which normally took place on Wednesdays, so we encourage people to do it privately on while public celebrations will take place only on Fridays.”
So also, as part of measures taken by the Lagos Catholic Church Priests, it was stated that, receiving of holy Communion in mouth by worshipers will no longer be condoned, instead, each member would be given the holy communion in their palms, irrespective of status.
As part of measures taken, in-order to curb and stop the spread of the deadly fast spreading Coronavirus, the Lagos Catholic Church Priests also encouraged members of the church, to ensure the use of sanitizers always.
