DSS Officer Dismissed Over Bribe Taking During Election Duties In Ekiti
The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of one of its officers, OTELEMABA JAJA SMITH, who was involved in taking bribe from motorists (Okada riders) during the General elections on Saturday while he was performing his election duties in Ekiti State.
Few hours ago, a picture of OTELEMABA had surfaced on the Social media wherein he was demanding bribe from a motorist.
It was nevertheless, when the news broke, was when the Service initiated a line of investigative actions, which include the search and identification of the suspected DSS Officer; his withdrawal from the duty post and issuance of a Memo as applicable to his cadre and rank.
In line with the DSS disciplinary procedures, OTELEMABA was tried in an Orderly Room and dismissed with immediate effect.
The Service however proved/Claims OTELEMABA’s instant dismissal is in accordance with the Director General DSS’ avowed commitment to, among others, promote discipline among it’s Officers. It may be noted that the D.G DSS’ stance on issues concerning discipline has continued to prove his intolerance for misconduct and discreditable behaviour in the Service.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Service condemns, in its entirety, the infamous act of JAJA and informs the public to note that he is no longer a member of this prestigious organization.
The Service reaffirms its commitment to professionalism, excellence and the rule of law. The DSS, as usual, rededicates itself to the security of the ongoing electoral exercise and reassures the nation of its sustained transparency and accountability in dealing with citizens.
