Forbes Top 10 Richest African Music Stars In 2019 (See List)

The World respected ranking magazine, Forbes has released the list of the 2019 top ten richest musicians in Africa.

The following list comprises of the top 10 Richest musicians in Africa 2019 and their net worth according to Forbes.

These popular artistes span from different countries in Africa ranging from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and other countries.

1. Akon

Akon has over 35 million of his album sold worldwide and also one of the top five most popular musician in Africa.

He has won numerous awards including five Grammy Award nominations and has over 45 Billboard Hot 100 songs under his belt. He tops the list according to Forbes Africa.

Akon net worth is estimated at $80 million currently this 2019.

2. Black Coffee

The multi-award-winning artist’s real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo.

He was born in South Africa’s house music province, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and raised in the Eastern Cape province, where Nelson Mandela hailed from, before moving back to KZN to study music.

He is said to be the Richest Musician in South-Africa and second richest Artist in Africa with his current net worth of $60 million this 2019.

3. Hugh Masekela

Hugh Masekela was born in Witbank, east of Johannesburg. He has released more than 43 albums and has performed with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Paul Simon, Marvin Gaye, The Byrds, Fela Kuti, Stevie Wonder and Miriam Makeba.

He is of no doubt one of the richest African musicians presently.

4. Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy is ranked the richest musician in Nigeria, and fourth richest  Artiste in Africa.

His real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, he is a Musician and also a Music Producer. He started playing music as a child in church before moving temporarily to the United Kingdom (UK) to pursue his music career.

Don Jazzy’s net worth is currently estimated at $30 million.

5. Tinashe

Tinashe was a child model by the age of three. The twenty-four-year-old sang before she could talk and made her first appearance in 2000 in the film Cora Unashamed.

Her voice also starred in the cartoon feature film The Polar Express alongside Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks.

She is the fifth on Forbes list on richest African musicians.

6. Jidenna

At age 10, Jidenna Theodore Mobisson started doing music but was afraid to tell his father who wanted him to be an engineer as opposed to his musical career. He is now ranked 6th richest Musician in Africa

He is ranked sixth according to Forbes Africa.

7. Wizkid

Starboy Wizkid as he was fondly called is arguably the Crowned king of African Afro-pop music.

Grammy Award winning artist, Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz, danced to his songs Ojuelegba and Caro, with Keys posting a video on her Instagram handle with the caption, “This song makes me happy”.

Popular Act, Kylie Jenner also posted a video of herself dancing to Wizkid’s music on Snapchat.

He made the list of the richest musician in Africa 2019 according to Forbes List, with a net worth of $20 milion.

8. Davido

Davido is a popular Nigerian Artist who have gained ground in the Music scene and have achieved celebrity status in just lest than 7 years. According to him, it was the likes of people like P-Square and D’Banj who made him believe this was possible.

He became famous for his widely accepted debut album “Omo Baba Olowo” in 2012. His net worth is currently estimated at $16 million.

9. Sarkodie

His real names, Michael Owusu Addo, started out as an underground rapper and backup Artist but his career was launched through the help of Duncan Williams, his former manager.

Staying true to his identity, he is a big advocate of Azonto, a Ghanaian genre that is said to have been born out of Kpanlogo, a traditional dance.

Sarkodie was the first Ghanaian to win a BET award. His first single off his fourth album, Mewu, sold almost 4,000 copies on the first day of its release in Ghana.

10. Oliver Mtukudzi
