The Kano state government has publicized that the Federal government under the leadership of President Buhari has given permission to ease lockdown in the state, despite the increase in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje disclosed on Saturday that Mondays and Thursdays would be lockdown free days, particularly between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm, in order to enable residents to shop for food.
Nonetheless, some Nigerians have taken to social media to criticize the decision, specifically because the state has witnessed a spike in the number of COVID-19 patients lately.
However, the state Ministry of Health revealed in a press release via it’s official Twitter handle, that the lockdown order was with the President’s consent.
the tweet read; ”Press-Statement!!!! @KanostateNg relaxes lockdown on Mondays & Thursday’s, starting from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm with the consent of the President @MBuhari. General public is to adhere strictly to the #COVID19Kano protocols as given by the health professionals.”
