Two Nigerians have been arrested alongside one of Brazilian’s notorious wanted criminal and drug dealer in Mozambique. The cocaine trafficker, who is identified as Gilberto Aparecido dos Santos, a.k.a “Fuminho”, had been declared wanted since over 20 years ago, until his arrest in Maputo on Monday.
He was one of Brazil’s “most-wanted” criminal that was declared wanted by the government of Brazil. According to the federal police in a statement which read; “The convict was considered the largest supplier of hard drugs as well as being responsible for sending tons of cocaine gangs operating in Brazil and several countries.”
Mozambique’s Criminal Investigations Services (CIS) spokesman, Leonardo Simbine while addressing the press, says that local police had been tipped off by Interpol that dos Santos had entered the country in March, we did our investigations and found him at a five hotel in Maputo. He was arrested with two Nigerian citizens,” Simbine said.
However, on his way to the maximum prison, dos Santos refused to answer questions from the press instead, he replied and demand that they should talk to his lawyer.
The Brazilian federal police said the operation to catch Santos was carried out by the Mozambique Police force including the US Department of Justice and the US Drug Enforcement Agency.
Simbine said, “dos Santos is being held on charges of drug possession and using of a fake passport, he continued saying, Brazil has 40 days to submit their extradition request to the government.
